Days 16-30 Keep going! Label your poem for a day

16. Make a list of ten images of things you have seen in the last 24 hours. Use all of them in a poem.
17. Write a poem that includes these words: bamboozled, bloodlust, bibliography. Have the title include one
of these words: contradiction, constellation, cranberry.
18. Write a poem about something small that is only 5 lines long.
19. Close your eyes and listen to the sounds around you. If the sounds are peaceful, write a poem with
a violent word as the title. If the sounds are loud, write a poem with a kind word as the title.
20. Remove your shoes. Write a poem that celebrates your feet.
21. Write a poem with the opposite hand that you write with or if you type your poems on the
computer, use only one hand to type.
22. Write a poem that only had five syllables in each line. Give the poem a long title.
23. Write a poem where the last word of the first line begins with the first letter of your name, and the
last word of the second line begins with the second letter of your name until you have spelled out
your first and/or your last name.
24. Write a poem that has the word “love” hidden in it somewhere. You cannot use the word “love” by
itself, it must be hidden (such as in the word “glove” or in two words like “halo venom”).
25. Write a poem where a literary figure shows up and tells you something and/or gives you
something.
26. Write a poem to your future self, but do not say it is to your future self, address the poem to a
president or rockstar.
27. Write a poem made of ten metaphors.
28. Make a list of your favorite words today. Write a poem that uses 90% of the words you wrote
down.
29. Write a poem about a skyscraper. Now, rewrite the poem with the last line being your first.
30. Write a poem giving thanks to a poet or to writing a poem a day. Use a line from one of the poems
you wrote this month to either begin or end it.

  1. 16. Open your eyes and see the world around you.
There are many things that you wish that you could see and many things that
you wish you could be the owner of.

I saw rain, and I wished that I would know when
it would rain a few hours earlier,
so that I carried an umbrella with me.
    Or maybe a yellow raincoat,
but then I forget that the sun will be coming out soon and
I wouldn't need that many things with me.
I should just use my camera to take a picture
of all the beauty in the world. Including the
bright-red apple that sits on the dinner table and the apple tree in
the backyard of my house. I wonder what it would be like to see what's under the
opaque gems on my ring, and the difference between it and a candy ring pop.
But then you remember that you can't do many thing under a day.
Don't worry about tomorrow because it will have the rest of things that
you would be planning to do before you let go of that cozy pillow.

    17. Cranberry
Man's desire is the color of a cranberry.
You don't notice until he writes his bibliography and
includes every thought, dream, and feeling.
That dark color that seduces the human eye,
even with it's bamboozled, dangerous games. His ambition
takes control of his heart, his mind, his soul, and no one is ever
to chain that monster, until the conscious of his bloodlust ways
tries to intimidate him and drive him insane.

    18. A crumb

It falls down my lap as I finish
what I eat. The poor search for it,
pick it up and eat it, because God made dirt and
it won't hurt. Meanwhile the rich let
it fall and never wonder the disappearance of it.

    19. Rush Hour
I close my eyes and hear nothing.
    Everything is quiet and
it seems peaceful, but what about the battles
    that are going on in
    the air. An atmosphere filled
with different attitudes and different conflicts.
    The atmosphere is divided.
Half of it is filled with serenity and calmness,
    while the other side is
filled with warfare and unnecessary conflicts.
Which side do you live in?

    20. Feet Celebration

Does little toes that momma use to tickle
just to see you smile and giggle.
    Going from largest to smallest.
    Different sizes, same functions.
    Happiness under your feet.
Those feet that lead you to your
dreams an take you step by
    step to your purpose.

    21. One handed
I will always be thankful for having two hands.
To write. To type. To draw. To wash the dishes.
To hug. To double-task. To pray for what I am grateful for.

    22. What was I thinking when I said that I wanted to grow up
    Sometimes we imagine
    that things would always
    be better if we
    grew up and forget
    that the older we
    get, the harder life
    is. Little ones, please,
    never grow up. And
    cherish the little
    moments in life that
    will become memories
    to your old bodies,
    and forever young souls.

    23. Mariangelis
We listen to everyone's voice, but what about my
own. Everyone wants their voice to be heard and
they start to question and complain without realizing
that everyone decides for their own. Like I
    have seen them all.
    Notice.
    A genuine
    thought can eliminate
    everyone else's voice and lies
    since everyone will be inspired
    with your determination and see.

    24. Snowy Night
We all like to drink hot chocolate
with our loved one on a snowy night.
We sit next to the fireplace and wonder
what it would be like to feel warmer and enjoy the night.
Up there in Alaska, there's not a single hot night.
You just need to put on some gloves and allow
    you hands transfer energy.

    25. Metaphor

I think of a simile because I want to think
of something to be compared with. Then I think of an alliteration because I want something that sounds like me. But metaphor tells me "no."
Let just compare you with something that doesn't act,
look, or sound nothing like you, just to make you feel better,
and I'll give you this journal, to read whenever you need a compliment.

  2. 26.
    Be the president that
    will be necessary for
    this country. Someone
    that would make a
    difference and make
    the people of this
    country happy.
Don't give them a fake smile,
    give them some inspiration
    and someone that they
could luck up that is doing the correct things.
    Make a difference president,
    make dreams and complete them,
live life to the fullest and remember to
try to make everyone you see, happy.

    27. Ten Metaphors
    Life is a universe.
The snow is a white blanket.
The peaceful lake was a mirror.
The moon is a white balloon.
    Her tears were flowing rivers.
    You are my sunshine.
    The world is a stage.
    The stars are sparkling diamonds.
    Life is a rollercoaster.
Your laughter is the music to my soul.

    28.
    Listen to your hearts and
listen to the music of your soul.
It just wants you to be happy
and enjoy the moments for what it is,
just laugh, smile, and even cry if you need to.
All you need to do is create memories while your young,
so that when you are old and can't do much,
you will remember all the things you use to do and smile.

    29.
    Life is a skyscraper.
It has it's up and it's downs.
It has the days when it's opaque and the days
when it's transparent. It's filled with
    crowds and filled with beauty.
    Just embrace the skyscraper.

    30.
    The moments in life
    will become memories.
    Just like the writing
    pieces that we write
    each day will
    become another journal
    in our house that we
will go back to and read.
    and see our growth
    and developments as
    we improve as writers.
    We will look back and
    not like or understand
    what we had once wrote,
but know that there's a story
    behind all of it. Meanwhile,
    just write and write. Write
    about all the things that
    you had been through.
All the things that you are
    going through. All the things
that you think will happen to you,
because the best writing come from within you.

    Watch the feathers fall
    to the ground like leaves
into to a pot of water
like tea leaves with int kettle

till it touches the ground where shoes roam
and it lay there where the ants roam
and they march from your pants that lie on the ground
to your speakers blasting wicked sounds

from your windowsill another feather falls
and faintly feel the wind blow
farther on you you see a finch plucking the fake
berries you but beside your fallen tree

    17. contradiction
by god the bamboozled the bureaucrats
sure as that be that there faces are that of calico cats
the blood lust that came down like the tower of babble
forever to be told in bibliography's.
As told in prophecies from the people in poverty.
off is thee, heads with the men that did not succeed.

    18.

    A whole other world
    rolling in your palm
    like scriptures had said
and you gaze at the sky and wonder
is this world to god like us a marble

    19.
    these sounds I hear
ring like the squeal of rodents'

    ruckus and racket and violent
scratches to which I open my jaw

and hear pops in my ear
    that only make them louder.

    20. Carry me

    These feet have carried me
many of miles for years and years.

These feet have been above my head
and moved fast enough to keep me safe

These feet have done much, much more
much much more than my hands could ever.

Thees feet carry me faster and farther than most

    21. the point
    I see the time collapse
    beneath my feet
    and these hands that move
counting my hours that no other counts
start to slow and the ticks become dull
    the gears stop
and I stand on the point of seconds hand
which snaps throwing me into April

    22. Have you ever heard of someone who only speaks in five syllables at a time? No? well I have!

    Though it does not make
all it does is take three
    three words from my mouth
    and only ever
    three tch tch tch tch
    and only ever

    23.

    I never thought till after
    my heart changed so
    that I would miss her
and she would no longer be my everything
but a person who I could only believe she's right

    24.

    like little liars
    licking lolipops
    lest their tongues
    lock up and lips
    open in laughter
    and bellies like
    jovial ovens lighting
    fires that spout out
    truths like lightning

    25.
    Imagine this
    Shakespeare walks to you
and hands you a pair of golden rings
    with hands extended
wide open in brace for a hug
    but rather than take you
    pinch yourself and realize you're
    dreaming

    26.

    Dear Mr.Xleal
keep your word play clean and fresh
I wonder if you still lose your breath
like you did when you were little
you were the pied piper yet you pick up a pipe

and sir the way you bite should amaze me
cuz you barked a lot but despite me
    I hope you're doing well

Tell momma that I lover I know shes doing swell

    27.
why would the lion concern himself with sheep
when the lions rock will never budge
and the stones the sheep grazes on is slant on a hill
though it is like them to follow ravens
    into nest of thorns
why should the lion do for them what they have fallen for
though the thorn once stuck in the lions paw
never before had he had needed the help of them.

    28.
    It suits my fancy to
    vicariously use the words
I learn and have stuffed into
    my lexicon
but lately it runs tight in me like latex
    Especially irritating like may bubbles
    popping in my ears
though it is prospected that I use more.

    29.

    Staring down into nothingness
is it loveliness or a pit of pressure
on which I might fall into
the railing feels loose and the bolts are rusted
but now I look up to the sky
and see if I could see the bottom there
    there was none
then there I was falling into loveliness

    30.
    like little liars
    my sisters like to laugh
    but they like to write
    and love to live
    and pass me on kisses
    on my birthday
    and the sisters I have
    I couldn't ever change
    wouldn't ever change
or lest that would change me
    and change us
so to them I say thank you
for writing about me , now 16.

    Image

    You’re not just an image
    they tell me.

You are so much more than that.
    A thunderstorm beautiful yet dangerous.

    And those eyes of yours-
beautiful blue ones, that remind me of ice.

    And your hair.
    A river of gold.

You’re so much more than an image.

Your lips remind me of cherry blossoms in the spring.

And your skin, is a beautiful caramel.

You’re so much more than a pretty picture.

Your laugh is a whisper in the wind, soft and pure.

Your smile reminds me of the brightest stars in the sky.

Please know that you are much more than an image to me.

You’re the light, the dark, the emptiness- the image.

    4/17/17

    Constellation

I am bamboozled by the amount of clouds that cover the sky.

It amazes me, that such gentle creatures float in the air watching.

So when I look at them with you, bloodlust runs through my veins.

Please know that this isn't anything new.
I take all of them here,
    and look at the clouds.

Before they catch though, I will put together a bibliography containing
all of the books that blossomed this action.

But for right now, as we’re sitting here in the grass, arms around each other
know that the only thing on my mind were the constellations.

    4/18/17

    Snail

It rests in the palm of my hand, unmoving.
I stare at it in awe as it lays there.
What could it be thinking about? Food?
For now though I’ll let it sit in my hand and watch it.

    4/19/17

    Desperate

You and I were in a desperate situation, and yet all I wanted to do was feel your lips on mine.

But I promised myself I wouldn't let you pull me back down and destroy me.

Yet, I find myself crawling back to you.

My friends call me desperate, but I think I'm just in love.
    A person hopelessly in love.

    4/20/17

I didn't want to write the poem about my feet, because I don't enjoy writing humorous poetry, so I just wrote one about a girl.

I can see your eyes travel down my chest and to the rest of my body.

I’m not sure if I should be flattered that out off all the ones in the crowd
you choose to look at me.

Can I ask you a question? What draws you toward me?

    My intelligence?
    My maturity?
Something as simple as my smile?

Or is it something your mind craves?

    No, I get it.
Just know that behind all of this, there’s a girl.

    A girl that hears things.
    A girl that feels things.
    A girl that wants things.

    A girl.

A girl with feelings, and emotions, and a mind that over thinks and demands.

A girl whose dreams are bigger than she’ll ever be.

    A very smart-
    beautiful
    amazing
    girl.

    4/21/17

    Ghost

I can hear your laughter echo off the walls. It’s like you're stuck-

and not matter how hard I try to make you go away, you’re still there, laughing.

So many questions run through my mind, when I can feel you around me.

    What's your name?
    When did you die?
    How did you die?
    What’s it like?

Yet my lips cannot pronounce a single word. That is the doing of the fear.

    You have struck fear.

So when I feel you watching, the only thing I can ask fully is,

    Why?

Walking Through The Sand In The Middle Of The Night

    Water runs down-
    the rocks in a fury.

    The moon reflects day
    the sun reflects night.

    We laugh, happiness
    On our tongues still.

    The sand between our
    toes makes me shiver.

    It’s love, I know it.
    And so do you.

Who is really in control, you or disaster?
When they tell you thing, don't they seem oblique?

What drives your ambition? Freedom, happiness, money?
That’s what we think does, in reality it’s our ignorance.

In school, they tell is not to worry about our grade, that it’s only a number.
It’s not just a number. It’s what separates us from those who are ignorant
    and those who are intelligent.

This number decides if we’re good enough for college,
or if we’re just another quantity-
Of those who are unable to succeed,
or dream big or have an a mind so unimaginable.
So when you tell us it’s just a number
, know that you’re ruining any chance for us to excel.

    4/24/17

    The Backyard

We sit in the grass, lemonade in our hands and chatter in our mouths.

I point out the different clouds, stating the type of cloud they are and where they can from.

You talk about the different leaves-
they’re shape and which tree they came from.

And then together, we point out different cloverheads.

You tell me finding one is good luck, and I laugh.

As we sit in the backyard, and point out so many things,

I smile, only because we’re sitting together in the backyard.

    4/25/17

    The Watch

He shows up on my porch and sets down an old watch.

I can see him from outside my window. His stature intrigues me-
so I step out onto the cool wood and look into his eyes.

    They’re kind.

He smiles and reaches for my hand for the watch.

He sets it into my hand.
I exam the small piece of jewelry.

    It’s broken.

He looks back at me and smiles before stepping off of the porch.

I want to call to him, but my feet don't move.
I look at the watch more carefully, and see a name,
    carved into the wristband.

    Atticus Finch

I look up to see that the man has vanished,
    but now I understand.
    You can’t change time.

Wentworth Miller, I understand what you've been through,
because I have gone through the same thing.

But I want you to know that it gets better.

You’re successful, intelligent and admired. You don't have to hide any longer the pain has subsided.

You've had to be strong for so long,
but now it’s time to take a break.

    See the world, smile, write.

Trust me, it get’s better. Just have a little faith is all.

    4/27/17

An endless night steaks across the sky,
    pulling in anyone found outside.

A sea of sorrow flows in my veins
forcing me to think thoughts foreign to me.

A blanket of stars cover my eyes, making it difficult to push away t
he impurities that wander inside me.

My flesh is the poem, only more alive and more dangerous.
Stubborn memories cloud my judgement, confusing right and wrong.
    It’s a domino effect.
But that’s what it was always supposed to be,
from the moment our lips collided.

You drowned in a sea of grief, while I was kept afloat. The only difference was,

I was fishing in troubled water. We couldn't save each other, but maybe that was the point.

We were a sea of green. One that could not be controlled. So maybe that’s why.

Or maybe it was because my voice was music to your ears, or because our future began to darken.

Whatever the reason though, I’m glad our paths have crossed, as though we were star crossed lovers ourselves.

    4/28/17

    They’re Just Words

You brood over the thoughts running through your head. This scares me. I know your thoughts cannot make you happy.

So when you act like a demure child, I begin to worry. I don't want you to wrapped inside of your head, it’s not healthy.

But you tell me very desultory that it doesn't matter and that I should stop worrying.

    But I cannot.

I can't just abandon you to you thoughts. No, I won't. Even when you call me an ingénue, I will still continues to pester you.

They’re just words you tell me. Don't worry.

    4/29/17

    Skyscraper

You’re a skyscraper, tall and narrow,
    and always watching over me.
So when I need shelter from the rain, I run to you.

You’re a skyscraper, a votive candle, glowing in the darkness.
A safe place to turn to.
    A home.

You’re not just a skyscraper, but a place of safety,
    compassion, understanding.

You are so much more than just some building. You’re a masterpiece.
A true work of art that all can marvel at.

But most of all, you’re human.

    Rewrite: Skyscraper

But most off all, you’re human, a true work
    a masterpiece.

You’re a place of safety, understanding compassion.
You’re a home, a place to run too.

You’re that light that glows in the dark, allowing me to find my way.
So when I need a shelter from the rain, someone to cry on,
I turn to you, because you are so much more than a skyscraper,
    tall and narrow.

    Thank You

    Robert Frost,
the words you use to tell a story inspire me.
You make it hard to tell if I’m living in a reality
    or some world you created.

    I thank you for that.

Without your lyrical works, the poems that I create wouldn't exist.
Again, thank you for your works of poetry,
    they are truly spectacular.

Your words take away any sense of time. Any sense at all.
    You have that gift.

Your work has left a handprint on history.
And that makes me want to achieve that, or higher.

What I’m truly saying Mr.Frost. Thank you for being born.

Sunday, April 2, and Monday, April 3

2. Write about a poem about a superhero coming to your house and confronting you about something. Somewhere in the poem, you have to state what your superpower is. 3. Write a poem that is really a love letter to an old flame. To make sure it’s doesn’t slip into sappy, make sure one or more of these words are in the poem: dung beetle, politician, nuclear, exoskeleton, oceanography, pompadour, toilet.
